Even with scattered showers today, folks out fishing found keeper sized flounder, small bluefish, croakers, a few puppy drum, and black drum.
Mike Keith of Ocracoke, NC came by the shop with his flounder today. Karen Sibley of Centerville, IA shared her photo of a nice black drum today. Dylan Esham of the Pony Island Motel has become our derby leader for his 5.3oz spot that he released back in Silver Lake. Megan Aldridge of the Ocracoke Harbor Inn made it to 40 and finally went fishing for the first time ever-catching a 26" puppy drum. Happy Birthday Megan!!!
Randy Singer of Windber,PA came by with his 15" flounder yesterday afternoon. Bert Clark of Edwards of Ocracoke went offshore alone yesterday and returned with an incredible catch of triggerfish and amberjack. Mark Cagle of Bessemer City, NC shared his flounder picture from Saturday with us. Carson and Brent Lankford also of Bessemer City emailed in their photos of some nice catches of flounder over the past week. Ryan and Jason Groesser of Battleboro, NC went out on a private boat and caught and released this beautiful sailfish Sunday.
Inshore reports still include great spanish mackerel fishing and nice flounder. There are some reports of scattered grey trout, puppy drum and black drum. Offshore reports include dolphin, triggerfish, and amberjack.
