Current Fishing Report

Surf fishing the last few days has included large and small bluefish, puppy drum, flounder, sea mullets, pompano, and spanish mackerel. The larger bluefish, flounder, and puppy drum have been scattered, while the best catches have been spanish mackerel and sea mullets.
Brent Lankford from Bessemer City NC shared a photo of his 2lb 7oz flounder caught from the surf. Ellie Blair from Towson MD showed us her grey trout, and Mackenzie Keith from Ocracoke brought by her bluefish. Joel Eubank shared a photo of his 30" puppy drum caught on the surf.
Inshore fishing has produced numerous small flounder with a few keepers mixed in. Spanish mackerel have been the most consistent catch inshore, with spanish being caught both trolling and casting. Two separate reports were of small dolphin being caught on clarkspoons within a mile of the beach while trolling for spanish!
Offshore gaffer dolphin to the 30lb class have been reported, along with king mackerel and wahoo.
