Current Fishing Report

After starting the day with sunshine and muggy heat after some rain last night, we had folks heading out early. There were still some large bluefish, a couple of black drum, a couple of puppy drum and at least one 37" red drum ,and small flounder found before the thunderstorms rolled in this afternoon. We are expecting the rain to fall and temperatures to drop with this front tomorrow.
Randy and Kim Mills of Nashville, NC were celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary and shared their photo today of 37.5" red drum and an almost 12 pound bluefish. This was Kim's first surf catch- quite impressive. Thanks for the drum photo too! David Warren of Ocracoke, Bryan Warren and Ronnie Fenn of Candler,NC came by with their bluefish weighing up to 10 pounds yesterday. Taylor Keithof Winterville, NC had a 9.5 lb bluefish and came by for his photo also.
Chris Skala of Hatteras, NC brought in his citation 41 lb cobia caught while sight casting yesterday. The Blecher family of York Springs, PA went out on their boat "Hakuna Matata" and caught nice black drum yesterday behind Portsmouth in rather windy conditions. Mark Blecher of York Springs, PA becomes our black drum leader for his 3 lb 11.8 oz black drum. Scott Bauer of Lexington, NC shared his photo from Tuesday of a couple of nice large blues. Scott and Cortney Odell of Winston Salem, NC were nice enough to email back their photo of a nice blue on Tuesday after we could not read their card. Thanks for the photos guys- you all make the site!
Inshore we had reports of some puppy drum, black drum, and a couple of sea mullets and gray trout this AM before the rain moved in. It was too windy today offshore but we had reports of wahoo, dolphin and tuna yesterday afternoon.
Have fun fishing!
Melinda
