FISHING REPORT ARCHIVERating System:Good fishing: Not so good fishing: Current Fishing Report Wow- what a day on the island yesterday with large bluefish still on the beach and large cobia just off the beach for those in skiffs. We also had reports of some flounder, a couple of sea mullets, a few grey trout, some sheepshead, and a couple of pompano. Bill Melton of Charlotte, NC and his son, tripp Meltonof Denver, NC shared a couple of their photos of the eight blues they caught. Daniel Monette of Louisburg, NC also caught bluefish, but posed with his sheepshead and 1.75 lb pompano. Jamie Taylor and Kim O'Neal both of Ocracoke stopped by with a couple of bluefish they caught yesterday.Dave Vantatenhove of elkton, VA came by with his bluefish.Lisa Philemon of Lexington, NC had a nice 7.5 lb blue.Bob Allan of New Bern, NC had a couple of nice bluefish and came by. Jim Dubovec of Raleigh, NC had a 30" bluefish and posed for his photo. Joe Martin of New Cumberland, PA and Earl Bumbaugh of Mount Union, PA shared some of their bluefish photos with us yesterday. Dink Arrants and Jeremy Hardison of Jamesville, NC went out Monday in the winds and found severel nice dolphin, the largest 32.5 lbs and puts Jeremy as our derby leader. Joan Hinson of Ocracoke,NC came by with her 73 lb and 44.5 pound cobia yesterday, putting her briefly in the derby leader position. Bert Clark of Edwards of Ocracoke, and Byron Miller of The Ocracoke Harbor Inn, went out and sightcasted for cobia, keeping these two. Russell Williams of Ocracoke and Bryan Macomson also went out sightcasting to cobia, catching 10 total. Of those kept, the largest weighed 90 pounds and he becomes our new cobia derby leader.
