Those out fishing today and yesterday found large bluefish, scattered sea mullets, a few pompano, and a couple of large red drum in the early evening.
Anne and Ricky Hardison of Atlantic Beach, NC shared their photos with us this morning of nice bluefish and a 43" red drum that Ricky caught last evening. Chris Dubovec of Wilson, NC had a citation 2 lb 4 oz pompano yesterday and came by to share her photo. Randy Burris, Harvey Morris and Jack Barringer stoped by to pose with some of the bluefish they caught yesterday before Jack headed home. Randy also shared his 29" red drum photo with us from yesterday. (Thanks for the fabulous eggs!) Sharon Nelson of Washinton Crossing, PA came by to pose with a nice 31" bluefish. Jim "Flytier" Braack of Wilmington, DE shared his photo of a 32" bluefish. Eugene Bridges of Raleigh, NC and Larry Toney of Nashville,NC shared a few more photos of bluefish from the south end that they caught yesterday. Shawn Queen of Kings Mountain, NC had a nice bluefish yesterday and shared his photo today. Guy Newell of Ocracoke, NC had a 12 pound bluefish yesterday and becomes our new bluefish derby leader. Alan managed to make it out for a short while and caught a large bluefish yesterday on a Hopkins. Bert Clark of Edwards of Ocracoke motel went out in his boat yesterday and came back with a 46 pound cobia and becomes our derby leader for his cobia.
Inshore, Capt John Ferrara of "Fish Tale" reported numerous spanish mackerel. Capt Ronnie O'Neal of "Miss Kathleen" also reported spanish mackerel yesterday inshore.
Winds were blowing too much today for the offshore boats.
