Current Fishing Report

With the island as very quiet and very few folks here, there are not too many people out fishing. Those few that are on the beach report black drum in the 2 to 3 pound range, small and keeper sized puppy drum, and a few dog sharks and skates. The weather has been beautiful with sunny skies, 62 degrees, and light winds yesterday and today, but we expect rain to move in later tonight.
Steve Gilmartin of Apex, NC stopped by Saturday for a photo of his black drum and puppy drum. Jerry Moye of Blacksburg, VA shared his photo of a nice puppy drum caught on mullet before heading home.
Yesterday, Bert Clark of Edwards and Capt Ferris O'Neal of the "Drumstick" saw great action with 20# blackfin tuna on light jigging rods. They also caught a few large albacore and were bothered by a couple of large sharks.
We are not keeping regular hours at the shop now until the end of February, but you can reach us here or by calling the number posted on the door if you are on the island.
Have fun fishing!
Melinda
