Although the wind started blowing a little from north and the skies were overcast, it was still a great day to be fishing. I was lucky enough to catch too many small puppy drum to count, a nice speckled trout, and a nice 25" puppy drum. Nelson Adams also caught a nice 26-1/2" puppy drum. Ralph Casey and Tom Atherton caught speckled trout and puppy drum - all of us were casting lures and fishing light tackle. Tom and Ralph caught the most fish by far over the last two days, mostly small puppy drum with a few slot limit drum and speckled trout mixed in.
Others I spoke with on the beach reported small puppy drum and black drum on bait. A few sea mullets, blow toads, dogfish, and small bluefish were also found on bait.
Maybe I can finish up in time to try again this afternoon, as it is forecasted to be windy tomorrow.
