Fishing Report
SOUTH POINT IS OPEN as of yesterday afternoon and since then, we have seen even more folks catching puppy drum on the beach. We don't have nearly as many photos as fish caught for sure. Some of the red drum caught have been up to 30" in length.
Besides the numerous puppy drum, we have reports of small bluefish, sea mullets, croakers and flounder up and down the beach.
Alan, Terri, and Taylor Morris of our old hometown of Weddington, NC and Jordan Poarch of Hickory, NC had puppy drum 24-27" this afternoon. They caught and released 3 more up to 29 inches before coming by the store this evening for the photo. Abbey Rouse of Clayton, NC came by with her 26" puppy drum this evening for a photo. Alex Myers of Irwin, PA becomes our new kid's derby leader for his 1 lb 4 oz grey trout that he caught this afternoon. Regina Sharp of Reidsville, NC had one of the most beautiful 26" copper colored puppy drum caught at noon and came by the store. Bill, Karl and Hannah Rumschlag all of Newport News, VA had some nice puppy drum yesterday evening and came by the store to share the photo. Randy and Kathy Szulewski of Bristol, VA had nice 25" puppy drum yesterday evening. Jordan Poarch of Hickory, NC and Taylor Morris of Weddington, NC went out with Capt Ernie Doshier of the "Gecko" yesterday inshore and caught numerous bluefish.
Inshore reports include some spanish mackerel, a few speckled trout, numerous bluefish, some flounder, and a few pompano.
