Fishing Report
Fishing reports continue to include large bluefish, sea mullets, some flounder, and large red drum. The weather was beautiful yesterday and many went out fishing. We have a storm front coming in the next few hours and will most likely knock most fishermen off the beach until it passes by later this evening/tomorrow AM.
Nate Wright of Hickory, NC has had an incredible fishing trip and caught two more large drum early this morning. He shared his photos with us and asked us to tell his mom "Happy Mother's Day!" since he did not make it back home today. Clyde Rice, Sr. and Jr. of New Bern, NC and Cummings, GA found success this morning with the bluefish using finger mullet rigs. Paul Barrow of Greensboro,NC had a nice 12# 3oz bluefish yesterday afternoon. George Ortman and Gill Williams of Ocracoke, NC also found some nice bluefish yesterday afternoon. Randy Barrow also of Ocracoke,NC had a couple of large bluefish yesterday.Dan Sumrall of Greensboro, NC shared his photo of his largest bluefish on his way home today. Delaney Black of Norfolk, VA, Jay Webster of Kilmarnock, VA and Dennis McCoy of Harrisonburg, VA reached their limit of bluefish yesterday. Jon Paige of Richmond, VA caught this bluefish on his first cast out on the beach yesterday. Lawrence Grady had a 10# bluefish on mullet yesterday. Ash Tippett of New Bern, NC had a 11# bluefish. Chris Cram of Caroga Lake, NY caught and released several large bluefish yesterday. The Gregory family of Black Stone, VA came by for a photo of some of their blufish. Raymond Wilson of Vanceboro, NC came by with his 12 # 12 oz bluefish caught on mullet and becomes our new derby leader for his bluefish.
