Fishing report
With the wind shifting around from the North to the South, the weather was beautiful, the surf laid out and we saw fewer fish being caught yesterday than the day before. With the cleaner water and low surf, we heard of bluefish, flounder, pompano, and sea mullet. We also heard of a large cobia caught today from the beach and hope to have that photo for you later.
Kay Knowles of Salvo, NC had a citation 3# 2oz pompano yesterday and becomes our derby leader.
John Corner of Meadville, PA came by with his 11.75 # bluefish yesterday afternoon. Bill Herring of Winchester, VA and Dave Slack of Remington, VA had some nice bluefish as well. Cheryl Sluder of Mechanicsville,VA shared her photo of a nice black drum.
Inshore reports include numerous pupy drum and a few gray trout.
Michael Thomas of Parkersburg, WV shared his photo of a 48# wahoo caught on the "Gecko" with Capt. Ernie Doshier. Sara Hutzell and Chrissy Ray, both of Ocracoke, were nice enough to weigh in Bert Clark's 33# citation king mackerel caught on the private boat "Miss Sara". He is our new derby leader.
Have fun fishing!
Melinda
