FISHING REPORT ARCHIVERating System:Good fishing: Not so good fishing: ACCESS TO CAPE HATTERAS NATIONAL SEASHORE AT RISK!!!!! Go to http://www.CapeHattterasAPA.com/ for current info! ![]() Fishing Report Although 30" to 37" bluefish continue to dominate the fishing report, we have also gotten reports of sea mullets, puppy drum, and black drum. The big bluefish are feeding on bait, anything from cut fish to frozen finger mullets. Finger mullet rigs have been one of the best producing rigs. Some anglers have reported that the bluefish are getting more aggressive, and some have been seen jumping as they hit the bait. Few if any of the big bluefish have been caught so far on metal lures. Topwater plugs or metal spoons may produce if the big bluefish start to school. Most of the bluefish are being released, although a few folks are keeping them for fishcakes and such. Herb Ruark from Dunn NC came by yesterday with a 37" bluefish that weighed in at 12-1/2 pounds. Rodney and Joce Hawkins from Clover SC and Hank and Gloria Anderson from Barnardsville NC caught puppy drum and bluefish. James Taylor from Parkerburg WV caught a nice 37" bluefish. Jim Wagner from Vincent OH caught a 30" blue. Michael Brough from Atlanta GA also had a nice bluefish on Tuesday. And Seldon Taylor from Swan Quarter NC caught 3 bluefish from 30 to 36". Late Monday, Anne Hardison from Atlantic Beach NC had a nice 31" bluefish. Have fun fishing! Melinda Rating: |
