Surf fishing reports continued to be puppy drum, flounder, small bluefish, scattered black drum, and several large drum. The wind has really kicked up hard SW today, and it is expected to shift to the NW as the approaching cold front passes through.
As the wind started to breeze up overnight, the drum bight turned on. Sara Hutzell and Bert Clark from Edward's Motel on Ocracoke both caught big citation drum early this morning, one at 48" and the other at 47". Jeff Saunders of Fayetteville, NC caught another citation drum this morning at 45". Marty Phillips from Fayetteville NC also caught a citation 44" red drum late last night. During the day puppy drum were reported, and Randy Barrow from Ocracoke, NC shared a photo of one of these slot limit fish.
I heard of puppy drum being caught yesterday on the inshore boats, and one charter captain reported seeing a school of big drum in the inlet.
