FISHING REPORT ARCHIVERating System:Good fishing: Not so good fishing: Don't forget your coastal fishing license! Well here at 1:30 PM the sun has come out, the winds are out of the NW about 10 mph and quite a few fishermen are heading out to try their luck on the beach. Highway 12 is closed on Hatteras island due to overwash so you can not leave that way - you might as well fish. The surf is still rough today and the high tide last night came up to the dune line, keeping South Point road closed under water and Ramp 59 at the North end in the water. But all other ramps are okay to use and you can travel down to the point by going out the airport ramp. I have not had anyone come back in from fishing yet to get a report for today- but it is right at high tide now so it will still be rough out there. Mason Edmunds of Chapel Hill, NC had his first citation red drum Thursday afternoon and shared his photo with us yesterday. These are photos of South Point this morning. We are thinking if the surf calms down some more today- we might have to go fishing tomorrow. Have fun fishing! Melinda Rating: |
