Surf fishing reports for yesterday required dodging heavy rain showers. But those that hung in there reported numerous pompano, small flounder, small bluefish, and scattered puppy drum. This morning , we have a break in the heavy rain so we have quite a few fishermen going out to give it a try before the rain sets back in. The Park Service did close South Point ramp access this morning due to the flooding from heavy rains the past few days. You can still get out to the point by driving down from the airport.
Andy Whitley of Wendell, NC had a 24" puppy drum yesterday on mullet. Wayne Crumpler of Kenly, NC with the Fishin Magican's also had a nice puppy drum on mullet. Jay Allen of Dover,PA used mullet to catch a 24" puppy drum yesterday too. Greg Smith, "Outside of Apex", shared his photo of his puppy drum from Sunday with us. Capt. Ronnie O'Neal of "Miss Kathleen" shared his photo of yesterday morning's charter with us. We also got some amazing photos of a sailboat that ran aground this morning on South Point.
