Surf fishing reports for today improved with multiple puppy drum, bluefish, small pompano, spanish mackerel, sea mullets and a few flounder. The grass situation seems to be a little better up and down the beach but we are waiting to see if that continues. We had a nice downpour this morning which was badly needed but had the fishermen out later in the day than normal.
Charlie McCoy of Charlotte, NC had a 36" red drum yesterday afternoon. The Fishburnes all had nice puppy drum yesterday afternoon with more released. Eric Holt of Snow Camp, NC gigged a nice flounder yesterday evening. Ryan Durham of Havelock, NC had a nice puppy drum, bluefish and pompano this morning before the rain started. Kirby and AnnMarie Lampersberger of Prince George, VA had some bluefish and a nice spanish earlier this morning.
Inshore reports have included some nice speckled trout and some good sized flounder have been gigged.
