FISHING REPORT ARCHIVERating System:
Not so good fishing:
Surf fishing remains about the same as yesterday, normal summertime fishing for flounder, bluefish, sea mullets, and pompano. Ray Walley from Lynchburg, VA brought in a 2lb 11oz flounder. And Marty Moore from Beaufort, NC caught an 8lb 15oz sheepshead on the back side of the island.
Inshore action has been very good for flounder, sheepshead, sea mullets, bluefish, puppy drum and black drum. Reporting in with some great catches has been Capt Ryan ONeal taking charters out on his Tarheel. Carol Johnson from Snow Camp, NC caught a nice 2lb 15oz flounder with Ryan today. And Catherine, Meredith, and Kenneth Cavenaugh from Winston Salem, NC caught some nice pompano.
Offshore the Anchorage marina reports that the boats did very well with dolphin and wahoo to 40lbs.
NPS officials are coming in tomorrow to look at our South Point closure and piping plovers. We hope to have more information regarding the plover's status and surf fishing the area by the afternoon.
Have fun fishing.
