Paul proved that persistence pays off. He caught this spanish mackerel after casting at least 100 times with a 3/4 oz. gold gator spoon in the middle of the day. Bob and I also found that moving from one spot to another was the only way to find pompano and sea mullet. What we would look for was colonies of sandfleas and fish in front of them. Sooner or later you'll find a pocket holding fish which is typical of summertime fishing. Flounder, bluefish, spot, croaker and gray trout rounded out what was being caught yesterday. The sound fishing produced the same with the exception of some nice speckled trout. Tommy Woolard is now the new derby leader for speckled trout. Offshore reported dolphin, wahoo, tuna, king mackerel, snappers, triggerfish and black sea bass. That's all for now. Have a great 4th of July and keep fishing!
