Not so good fishing:
Citation size pompano are starting to make a good showing the past couple of days, especially for Mike and Danny Stewart from Burlington, NC. They seem to have found the perfect spot and technique. Just wish we could get those two to look happy about it when we take their picture...We'll keep working on them because I'm sure we'll see more of them this week. Spanish mackerel and bluefish would be the second and third most caught fish right now. We're also catching some sea mullet, flounder, black drum, (1) spadefish, spot, croaker and the one 45" drum that Bob and I watched Jeff Hilliard from Luray, VA catch and release.
Spoke with Albert O'Neal this morning who said the boat fishing in the sound is producing lots of spanish mackerel and gray trout but the flounder fishing was slow. He also said he saw a good number of cobia showing up and tarpon. His brother Andy O'Neal has caught three of the so far.
Offshore for Capt. Dave Nagel produced lots of dolphin and wahoo.
That's all for now. Have a great day and keep fishing!
