If you were willing to catch at least one kazillion skates, rays and sharks then your reward might have been what Patrick Usher caught and released. Bob and I were fortunate enough to be fishing right beside Patrick when he caught his trophy red drum around 9:30 a.m. Patrick did a fine job! Besides his drum there were some bluefish, puffers, sea mullet, speckled trout, black drum and puppy drum. As I said though, there were acres of skates. We saw some folks leaving them on the beach and we'd really like to encourage everyone to please put their fish back in the ocean because they all serve a purpose.
