FISHING REPORT ARCHIVERating System:Good fishing: Not so good fishing: Pictured here are the happy and proud second place finishers, "The McClammers", of The Little Hatteras Invitational Fishing Tournament. Names from left to right are Tradewind's Bob, Bill Newell, Graham Evans, Herb Ruark, Rob Jordon & Clyde Williams. My team the "Sandbunnies" came in second place women's division just narrowly missing first place by 3 points. Congratulations to all the participating 91 fishing teams. It was great tournament and everyone gave it their best effort. Fishing on Ocracoke this morning started out with good catches of bluefish, gray trout and puppy drum. As more fishermen hit the beach there were also good catches of spot, sea mullet, pompano, croaker and flounder. We've actually seen some good sized croakers the past few days as a new leader of our Derby clearly surpassed the last contender. Dave Mangum from Durham, NC also caught a 5 lb. puppy drum only moments after our wondering where the medium sized drum are. From the boats fishing in the sound we had good catches of flounder, especially in Wallace's Channel next to Portsmouth Island. Brenda Waters from Taylorsville, NC came with a "Citation" 5-1/2 lb. flounder. We were also told there were gray trout, speckled trout and a few puppy drum. That's all for now. Tight Lines! Rating: |
