Not so good fishing:
Spanish mackerel in the surf at the south end of the island was probably the biggest news Thursday. Derek Mcentee from Washington, NC caught quite a few up to 3 lbs. as well as a handful of other fishermen. We were told Aaron Nash of Ocracoke was also one of the lucky anglers. Also, Rebecca Young from Brooklyn, NY caught a 7 lb. puppy drum at the north end of the island around 2:30 p.m. as well as bluefish. The other reported catches were sea mullet, gray trout, black drum and flounder. The water is mighty pretty out there, very clear and fishable especially for lures.
Sound Fishing - spanish mackerel, gray & speckled trout, flounder and puppy drum.
Wreck Fishing - triggerfish, black sea bass and bluefish.
Offshore - Wahoo, dolphin, black and yellowfin tuna. Audrey Harker from Island Heights, NJ caught a 22 lb. dolphin while fishing on the Charter Boat "Osprey".
Today should be a great day. Hope all that can go fishing will and catch lots of fishes!
